This course covers basic maintenance, detailing of cars, engine/power train fundamentals, repair brake systems, electrical, cooling systems, suspension, exhaust systems, drivability, transmission services and tire replacement / repairs. This course utilizes various tools and equipment for diagnosis and repair.

These range from the basic sets of hand tools to handheld computers for drivability diagnosis, to different machines that flush the cooling system, electronic testers and brake lathes for turning drums and rotors. The Auto Mechanics trade can open doors to numerous career options other than becoming a licensed technician.

It is a solid career that requires various talents and skill development that is rewarding and enjoyable. It leads to apprenticeships in auto mechanics, small engine repair, parts person, service advisor, motorcycle, marine and aviation technician, lot person, lube technician, parts remover and reinstaller. You can make a very good living in this area if you invest in your own skills and continue to develop them through further education.
